Amerige Heights Internet and Technology Update
Free wireless internet
access is now available in downtown Fullerton sponsored by THE
CITY OF FULLERTON.
Known as i-fi(short
for wireless fidelity), the system enable users with a
wireless-enabled computer to connect to the Internet when in
proximity to an access point or otspot.
The network
www.FullertonWireless.com was
designed and installed for the city by CDCE Inc. It currently has
access points at nine locations in the downtown area. The nine
otspots cover a range of approximately 24 blocks. Those outside
the area can tap into the signal if they have line of sight to
Fullerton City Hall.
Separate wireless access
points can also be accessed at the Fullerton Main and Hunt Branch
libraries.
Fullerton residents
who wish to use the network must register on-line each time they
access it. A wireless gateway at city hall monitors usage and is
able to control bandwidth and restrict usage time, if necessary.
